    New

    • Embedded Tailscale Byre and the app each run on their own embedded Tailscale node, so a server is reachable without installing or configuring Tailscale. The first screen shows both sign-ins and finds servers automatically, and startup shows its connection progress instead of flashing screens.
    • Away mode An Away button at the right end of the toolbar tells byre you're not at your desk, and an agent fork tool lets an agent start the other side of a decision as a second task.
    • Merge & continue A ready-to-merge card can land the work so far and keep the task open, with an Other… field for your own answer.
    • Notifications Notifications for ready-to-merge, discard suggestions, merge problems and workflow results.
    • Open files on your Mac Agents can show you a file from their worktree on your Mac, and the Files tab shows images.
    • Terminal keys Agents can send named keys (Ctrl-C, Enter, arrows and more) to the task terminal and read back the shell's input line, and a guard stops them typing over text you left unsent. Running a command the agent left in the terminal wakes the agent.
    • Message box and task status The message box collapses, and the task's status shows in the composer bar instead of floating pills.
    • Bigger task switcher The ⌘K switcher grows with its content and accepts images; workflow rows appear only when your text names a workflow.
    • Quieter transcripts Consecutive grey-box items fold into one, duplicate review rows are gone, and the lead's messages and answers are marked as the lead's.
    • Forked transcripts Forks carry the source task's transcript and link back to the fork point.
    • iCloud sync health The Settings tab shows whether iCloud sync is working, and the server's client list shows a Mac whose sync is failing.
    • Updater progress The update window shows each phase's own progress.
    • Project arrow keys Arrow keys move between projects.
    • Server chip The server chip counts only idle tasks with an unread summary.
    • New website byre.run is redesigned, with a share card and favicon.

    Fixed

    • Pending sends A message you send is matched to its confirmation by an ID the server echoes, and a failed send is retried until the server confirms it, so messages are no longer lost or duplicated across reconnects.
    • Ready-to-merge prompt It re-arms on byre's own messages, and Merge & continue no longer counts as dismissing it.
    • Ready and discard labels They clear only when the agent changes files or asks a new question, and the agent can withdraw them; you get a Dismiss button.
    • Agents restarting after errors Lead tools no longer restart an agent whose turn you interrupted or that ended in an error.
    • Slow new task Creating a task no longer lags.
    • Escape in full screen Escape no longer leaves full screen in the main window.
    • Startup The app waits for the server's tailnet peer before connecting instead of showing a bad URL error.
    • Terminal prompt zsh's partial-line marker (PROMPT_SP) no longer appears in task terminals.

    Install

    Download byre-0.1.6.dmg and drag Byre.app to Applications; Macs already running 0.1.5 get this through the app's updater. The disk image's SHA-256 is in byre-0.1.6.dmg.sha256.
